Hello Friends of Destiny we will begin our tournament play officially this Thursday night at 6:00pm. Just a few reminders make sure you come prepared with the proper attire. Basketball shoes, and shorts or sweat pants, also team shirts will be distributed to each team on Thursday please arrive a little early to pick-up shirts. Each team must be prepared with memory verses and have booklets complete.

Rules for this tournament
1. Games 8 minutes each
2. Players must have proper attire
3. Players must warm-up before playing
4. Team members must stay together
5. All games start with a jump ball
6. Fouls and Violations will be called
7. Ball must be taken back behind red line if ball hits rim of the opposite team shooting
8. Running clock, the clock will only stop for timeouts
9. Each team is allowed two 30 second timeouts
10. Good sportmanship is expected of all players
11. Every team member must be given a opportuntity to play.
12. Each coach of a team is required to report results to the tournament administrator

We had another tremendous week at Destiny with young people still showing up when a weather advisory of a blizzard of approaching the area. I am amazed how committed the parents and the kids are to get their children to Destiny. We had some of the young people who walked in the snow and cold to attend the Destiny meeting, to me that is amazing. We also had coaches who had emergencies and sickness in their families but still made a way to be there for the young people. I am thankful that God has blessed us with committed coaches who I can depend on even when I am out of town. We had the opportunity to go to the east coast and visit with my son Christian and enjoyed celebrating his 22nd birthday. We also attended two of his basketball games in which they won huge conference wins, we had an exciting time.

Speaking opportunities in North Carolina
I had the honor and priviledge to speak at Celebration church at in Morganton, NC, Resurrection International Church in Hickory, NC speak with a bible study group in Ashveille, NC,share a message with Montreat Basketball team and I was invited to a prayer meeting at the Billy Graham center called the cove in Black Mountain, NC this also was an awesome time of prayer and seeking the heart of God. To best describe the time I call it a “DIVINE TIME”

We had an awesome night of teaching God’s word, competitive games, and a fabluous meal. The scrimmage games are well underway and all the teams seem to be evenly matched. Our coaching staff has been doing a great job of coaching and encouraging their teams. I have some exciting news to share in the coming weeks about an exciting partnership we are developing with Compassion International.

Hello Friends of Destiny, our theme for 2012 is “Accelerate to your Destiny” We are certainly seeing a acceleration of ministry like never before. Please keep us in your prayers as we advance forward in reaching young people and families for God’s glory. The next two weeks we will have scrimmage games and then we will launch the eight week tournament on February 9th. We are seeing exponential growth which means an increase in number or size, at a constantly growing rate. We are also seeing a hunger for God and an exciting engagement of studying God’s holy word.

We engage students in God’s Word and I am amazed at how receptive the young people have been to God’s Word. I see a true hunger for God’s Word that I am excited about. I am also thrilled about how our coaching staff has responded to the demand. We are seeing more young people at Destiny than I have seen in a long time. Please pray for us as we endeavor to share the love of Christ with this community.
